Simon is the co-founder of Darwin Management. Founded in 2008, Darwin focuses mainly on venture fund management and consulting for start-ups, especially in the Greater China region. They have invested more than twenty start-up companies so far.
Simon specializes in semiconductor industry and management of technology start-ups. He used to work at Texas Instruments and United Microelectronic Corporation (UMC), in both research and development (R&D) and sales divisions. Later he joined AsiaTech Venture as Technology Partner, focusing on various IT segments including semiconductor, digital entertainment, and consumer electronics. Simon also serves on the boards of more than ten technology companies. Major successes in his venture portfolio include Praesagus (acquired by CDNS), TrendChip (TW.3614), Afatech (acquired by ITE TW.3014), Initio, Lightuning Technology, Quantek, Wison, SandForce (acquired by LSI), etc.
After his graduation from the Department of Physics at Taiwan National Central University, he furthered his studies in Stanford University, where he received his master’s and Ph.D. degrees. He was invited as an Adjourn Professor by Yuan-Zhi University teaching semiconductor processing. He has authored over thirty technical papers and attained two US patents.
