Allen Lin starts a new venture in the field of medical device recently, and the company is specialized in optical imaging system. The system was developed by Dr. Huang from NTU, and it was based on the platform of OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography). The company will apply this technology to optical biopsy, imaging-guide surgical system, and digital pathology.
He was joined Taiwan Global Biofund/ YFY Biotech Management Co. in 2007 and brought to TGB success in the incubation of several biotech companies. The most successful cases of his portfolio companies are Taiwan Liposome Company (4152) and TaiMed Biologics(4147). Both of them are the IPO companies in Taiwan. He got a licensing deal from University of Washington, and incubated a start-up IVD company in Neihu. In addition, he serves as director of business development in this new company (MiCareo, Inc.). MiCareo is focused on the developing of rare cell detection platform, such as circulating tumor cell prognosis, prenatal diagnosis, and circulating endothelial cell detection.
Allen is the co-PI of SLP (Start-up Leadership Program) Taipei, and he started with Fiona for this program in 2012. Currently, we already enrolled 60 entrepreneurs in this program. We provide a key set of resources and some turn-key knowledge to run an early-stage companies. Allen also collaborates with STB (Stanford-Taiwan Biomedical Fellowship Program) alumni to build up a new type of incubation network on medical device, called MEDx. Our resources are included among the committed investment capital, technical and clinical experts, experienced mentors, state-of-the art facilities, and new venture management. Allen would like to link the best young talents in Taiwan to the global entrepreneurial network in biotech industry, and those organizations are the first step for him to move it.
Allen serves on the board of Alumni of Technology, Innovation& Intellectual Property Management of National Cheng-Chi University, the board of IACVA Taiwan, and the board of Somnics, Inc. He received his MBA degree at National Cheng-Chi University and MSc degree at Chang-Gung University.
