About
Dr. Ted Chang is a distinguished technology leader with global vision, proven innovation leadership, and deep humanistic commitment. He serves as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Quanta Computer, President of the Quanta Research Institute (QRI), and leader of Business Unit 12 (BU12). He has long been dedicated to advancing AI-driven One Health, promoting the wellbeing of humans, living systems, and the environment in pursuit of a more sustainable and resilient future.
Under his leadership, Quanta has continued its transformation from a global hardware manufacturing leader into a major force in AI innovation and platform services. He has spearheaded the development of internationally recognized intelligent platforms spanning healthcare, agriculture, culture, and digital content, including QOCA for smart medicine and digital health, QOFA for smart agriculture, OPENTIX (developed through a collaboration between Quanta and the National Theater and Concert Hall), and TACO, a cloud-based digital content management platform for Kodansha in Japan.
These platforms have received major international recognition. QOCA has earned six Red Dot Design Awards; QOFA has received an iF Design Award and a CES Innovation Award; OPENTIX has received the Japan Good Design Best 100 Award; and TACO has received the Japan Good Design Award. Together, these accomplishments reflect Dr. Chang's exceptional ability to translate frontier technologies into platforms of enduring industrial, cultural, and social value.
For more than two decades, Dr. Chang has led the long-term strategic R&D collaboration between Quanta and the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MIT CSAIL), advancing important progress in human-centered computing, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the MIT Jameel Clinic.
Appointed by two Presidents of Taiwan, Dr. Chang has represented Taiwan in the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) since 2019, where he has held leadership roles across major working groups. He also led DAILY (Do AI Locally Yourself) (2023–2025), promoting no-code AI and local empowerment, and in 2026 launched BAT-HI (Better AI Together for Health Innovation), a federated learning initiative designed to enable trusted collaboration and shared intelligence across institutions.
Beyond corporate and international leadership, Dr. Chang remains deeply committed to talent cultivation and cross-sector collaboration. He serves as Guest Professor at National Taiwan University and National Cheng Kung University, and as Adjunct Joint Appointment Professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He is also a Board Member of Epoch Foundation and the Asian Cultural Council Taiwan Foundation (ACCTF), extending his leadership into entrepreneurship, cultural exchange, and the broader mission of advancing technology for humanity.
Dr. Chang holds more than 290 patents worldwide and is the recipient of the 2024 IEEE Robert M. Walp Industry Humanitarian Award and the 2024 MIT CSAIL Inaugural Visionary Partner Award. In addition, the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative, in which he led Quanta's participation, and the QRI innovation model have both been recognized as case studies by Harvard Business School, underscoring his long-term contributions to technological innovation, organizational transformation, and social impact.
